Working in Developer Education (DevEd) to onboard new engineers, enabling subject-matter-experts to create a continuous learning culture & provide a toolkit to facilitate learning. My role within DevEd includes cross-functional relationship building, instructional design, project management, external networking, vendor management, and learning the Netflix engineering stack.
Cross-Functional Relationship Building: Partner with learning teams, engineering leadership, and internal stakeholders to identify training needs and collaborate on a holistic approach to embedding learning.
Instructional Design: Write, maintain and update content for engineering training programs, including virtual onboarding, training guides and checklists, remote training best practices, and custom templates for workshops. Maintain Developer Education website.
Project Management: Create and garner adoption on strategy documents in alignment with organizational priorities. Manage initiatives through Jira, collaborate via Google suite and slack, communicate efforts in newsletters, memos, and meetings, collect feedback, measure success, and pivot as needed.
Network: Collaborate with external developer education partners and organizations with mutual interests to exchange industry best practices.
Vendor Management: Work in collaboration with financial services, security, and legal on procurement processes, including vendor vetting, contract negotiations, renewals, rollout and support enterprise SaaS solutions.
Technical: Learn Netflix Engineering stack including NodeJS, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Restful APIs, Material-UI, Spinnaker (continuous delivery), Docker.

Budget: Participate in planning and budgeting processes, provide strategic budget oversight for areas within the web services including shared software list.

Contracts: Create proposals, bid specifications, establish technology sourcing strategies and negotiated agreements with technology providers. Review contracts ensuring agreements align with district protocols and technology standards. Create workflows to facilitate information gathering for vetting potential purchases.
Development: Oversee and assist with operations, infrastructure, application development, information security, and IT controls implementation. Provide assessments, testing, optimizations and custom configurations.

Graphic & UX Designer: Use Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design in print, web and user interfaces. Plan information architecture, design and prototype intuitive, interactive web experiences to be cross-platform and responsive for mobile, tablet and desktop, and apply modular designs for scalability.
Management: Lead and mentor a collaborative team of web professionals. Set priorities, delegate workload, provide training and evaluate performance. Provide input on IT development, position planning, recruitment, retention, and compensation
Solutions: Work collaboratively with the web team, college departments and services to understand business needs and translate them into working, scalable, technical solutions that solve those needs.
Instructional Technology: Collaborates with administrators, staff, and faculty to develop and implement innovative models for the delivery of instruction via technology-enhanced teaching and learning environments. Consult on matters related to the effective use of educational technology, emerging technologies, and the use of resources.
LMS Administration: Configures, administers, maintains, updates, and document the College’s LMS (Canvas) environment. Collaborates with, consult, and advises instructional designers, faculty, and other key stakeholders of the LMS environment to support the development and integration of features and customizations.
Multitasking: Work in a dynamic, deadline driven, complex, team-based environment with multiple competing priorities and a rapidly changing environment.
Project Management: Lead, perform and oversees the planning, analysis, design, and implementation of campus-wide web applications by working with users to determine requirements, achieve milestones and deploy successful projects.

Web Services: Ensures the system-wide coordination and implementation of each campus’ website by directing the resources in developing a consistent engaging design and programming structure, collaborating with each campus’ web programmers and providing centralized, responsive mobile-friendly and ADA accessible web services and features.

Graphic Design, Video Production and 3d Printing
Designed over one hundred vector files available for sale on microstock websites. Designed a series of stickers for parties and holidays that I had mass produced overseas. Constantly creating logos, business cards, invitations, ads, banners, and collages. Experience in video production, sound, lighting and adobe premiere movie editing. Lead the creation of the first 3d articulated model.
Worked with the SMCCCD’s three colleges in multiple redesigns, customizations, integration projects resulting in award-winning websites. Created dozens of college and business websites using the current web technologies starting from basic HTML to database-driven asp sites and evolved to CSS and PHP MVC frameworks. Currently an expert in WordPress and Laravel.
