Three things I built outside the org chart. Each one shipped end to end.
Dog Genome is a puppy breeding sim I designed, built, and shipped by myself: a real dominant and recessive genetics model, 800 collectible looks, 13 competitions across 7 tiers, and a DNA lab, all running fully offline with no ads and no tracking.
In March 2026 I gave a keynote at the CISOA Technology Summit in Riverside, the annual gathering for IT leadership across California's community colleges, with 841 attendees, 98 sponsors, and more than 60 sessions over four days.
I wrote a book about the gap between buying GenAI tools and actually getting value from them. It covers two things most rollouts skip: teaching people properly, and connecting them to the knowledge they already own.

Developer education is a program problem, not a training problem. When a platform changes, an org slows down because thousands of people have to relearn a workflow at once, and almost nobody plans for it. Here is how I ran it.

Charlie is a uniquely designed, fully articulated 3D-printed figure. He features movable legs, knees, paws, head, and tail, all printed as a single piece, eliminating the need for assembly.
Before the assistants
Software I designed and built by hand, before AI could write any of it. All retired now.
A custom T-shirt generator built as my first-semester final project at Harvard. Laravel and MySQL underneath, a p5.js canvas rendering the shirt live as the text changed, and a Zazzle affiliate handoff for printing. The code is still public.
A workshop management system for a college professional development program: registrations, waitlists, attendance, and email reminders. It scored each registrant's likelihood to attend from their own no-show history. Built for one district and used there.
A Raspberry Pi that flashed lights and played music whenever my Fitbit scale showed I had lost weight. A Laravel backend watched the Fitbit API, and when the number dropped it published over MQTT to Python running on the Pi. Built for one person, me.
An installable Laravel package that let an application's own users build their own forms. Field definitions were stored as JSON, so a new form was a new row rather than a migration. It passed 11,000 installs on Packagist and strangers sent pull requests. I stopped maintaining it in 2020.
A scheduler for recurring employee emails and Slack messages, where each contact list was a stored GraphQL query re-run at send time instead of an uploaded spreadsheet. A React and Strapi learning project, published as open source.
My Harvard Extension graduate capstone: a web app for building a course-by-course education plan and publishing it so other students could start from it instead of from a blank catalog. Deployed with real course data, never taken past prototype.
A reference site that gathered the state resources, discounts, and licensed software available to California Community Colleges into one place, including an index of technology plans from all 114 colleges parsed with NLP. Built 2017, retired April 2021.
Amazon's top-rated products kept disappointing me, so I built a Laravel app that threw out reviews that did not look genuine and re-ranked whatever was left. It ran publicly for about two years. The Medium write-up of the method is the best surviving record of it.
An incident management system for shared services. Filing an issue paged every subscriber by text or email, and the link in each message logged the recipient in and showed the whole group who had acknowledged it.
A Laravel app that kept an address book accurate by handing each record back to its owner. Contacts opened a private link, corrected their own details, and the finished list printed as mailing labels. It began as CS50 coursework and grew a dashboard, Google import and batch sends.
